jCal terms of service

Last updated 3 October 2026

What jCal is

jCal is a private, self-hosted family calendar application operated privately by the owner of foresightmetrix.com for a single household. It is not a commercial service, it is not open for public registration, and no fee is charged.

Who may use it

Use is limited to members of that household and people they invite directly. Access requires a passcode issued by the operator.

Acceptable use

Users agree not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to the application, the machine it runs on, or any connected Google Account.

Connected accounts

Connecting a Google Account is voluntary and requires that account holder's consent. Access can be withdrawn at any time, either in the application or at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Data handling is described in the privacy policy.

Availability and warranty

The application is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. It runs on home hardware and may be unavailable, lose data, or be discontinued at any time without notice. Users should treat Google Calendar as the authoritative copy of their data.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the application, including missed events or lost data.

Changes

These terms may change; the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date.
